Judges will use Relative Placement to determine finalists and winners.
All competitors must have a full weekend pass or a competitor's pass. In addition each competition will be $10/person for Jack and Jills and $20/couple for the rest. We will award trophies for the top 3 couples. Also, the top 3 winners will win cash split 50/30/20 1st,2nd, 3rd minus the small cost of trophies. Prize money will vary depending on the number of people who enter.
Spectator's passes are $ 10 for the pre-dance contests. People who buy a pass for that evening's dance get in for the early contests too. You must have a dance pass for the contests happening during the dance.

Open Jack and Jill Prelims
The usual deal with heats and partner changes. Pull your partner from a hat! You will dance with at least 3 partners. Judged as individual cause you are you! This contest sold out last year so best sign up early online! Wear a bright shirt!

Harvest Moon Lindy Hop Prelims
The Harvest Moon Ball Lindy Hop Championships was the most significant contest in New York from 1935 - 1974. Our contest will use the following characteristics taken from this famous contest. Couples will dance in heats to fast big band music (220bpm+). Crowd reaction will be taken into account for judging. Routine snippets are encouraged but should be malleable to hit the music. Showmanship will be very important so that you get noticed. Only amateurs can compete. (Professional lindy hoppers should compete in 30 Sec. Showcase and Pro-Am Jack and Jill.) 30 Second Showcase
In an attempt to make serious competition more accessible to social dancers we are hosting The 30 Second Showcase. A showcase competition is when a couple performs a routine to a song of their choice. So find a partner and create a jammin' 30 - 45 second routine of your favorite lindy hop. You will find that it goes very quickly. You will showcase it in front of everyone at the dance! You can either edit your music or plan a fade at 30 - 45 seconds.

Partner Charleston
Inspired by the clip After Seben. Couples will dance short partner Charleston Routines for 16 eights to live music! Authenticity and creativity are encouraged. Contest open to all levels.

Solo Contest (Yeah yeah it's actually Sunday Morning!)
We play music and you dance to it! Whoever dances the best for the crowd wins! This contest is free but likely will find the best dancer of the weekend!

Pro-Am Jack and Jill
Just like it sounds, it's a Jack and Jill contest where we will pair up amateurs with Professional level competitors. You sign up yourself and we will take care of inviting the pros to dance with you and bring you up! You will dance in spotlights. Great fun! Last year we sold out!

Blues Battle
Competitors will start by dancing solo to slow blues music. Judges will pick the best movers to participate in the couples contest, also to down and dirty blues music. Dancers will have one partner chosen randomly. Much respect to the winners! This contest is open to all dancers.

Jam format to live music. You will have 1 partner twice through.
